The "air card" may have given that one away but is he looking to use a flash 
plug-in or up-date a BIOS?  Does he have memory to burn or minimum amount.  
Does he wish to dual boot or drop the mac OS and upgrade to Ubuntu?  Perhaps 
he is even planning a triple or quad boot!  What size is the free space on 
his drive?  Wait, I find I had more questions than the OP!!  Really need a 
little more info before there can be meaningful advice!
