Again, if people bother to read these posts, I said that I phrased it 
badly when I said it was wrong.  I do however stand behind the fact that 
no other distro I am aware of (or using) does that.

I personally think setting things up that way is silly.  And never, in 
anything way shape or form have I encountered 'unintended consequences' 
having the hostname on the same line as the loopback.

Now, unless you have some proof of those consequences (and don't point 
NoOPs posts back to me, I cannot replicate the problem on any system I 
have) then I stand by my statements that it's silly and of /little/ use 
(other than Derek's development setup, which I fully understand.
