Honestly. I can't remember why it's taboo.  (Not necessarily a bad idea, 
I do rescind that, it was not the proper thing to say.)  I just remember 
  hearing that /nothing/ gets setup under 127.x.x.x except for the 
loopback at 127.0.0.1.

It's possible it hd something to do with early TCP/IP stacks, netBIOS or 
something.  I've been wracking my brains trying to remember.

If servers wouldn't need it, why would /any/ system need it?  Can 
someone tell me that?
