Let no man doubt the pedanticness of the French! Still the names
Herschel and Leverrier are given for the outer two gas giants, no?

I had never heard of the Doppler-Fizeau term either. Though I am
certain that at least some of the names' shortening can be attributed
not to disrespect for the scientists involved, but rather for a
principle that will no doubt be termed Dotan's Razor long after my
death: A short white lie can save a lengthy explanation.
