Xubuntu 8.04 on an Intel Core 2 duo desktop here.

I use Pen drives to take slide presentaions to classes. School's
computers run XP. Most have virus protection, but I'm not certan
all do.

Works fine for XP. It reported, and said it eliminated a virus
once. No longer auto-mounts when inserted in my machine.
fdisk -l does not show it.

My other USB key, an 8 gig Teclast which has been in the
same set of Windows boxes, works fine, so far.
