    Let me say this also sounds like a likely problem Dave is talking 
about. I have the same problem if I turn on Desk Top Effects. Mine is 
nVidia 6100 and if in anything but basic my computer will run for a few 
minutes and then freeze. I think the nVidia chip gets too hot.
