SSH connection problem

Zhengguo,

I was wrong earlier about Firestarter -- there is not a process that
runs as it just modifies iptable entries.

I had said, incorrectly:

>> Ah, Firestarter might be it then!
>> To see if it is running, just use ps:
>> $ ps -ef | grep fire

Try this and let's see if it fixes it for good now:

1) Go to System->Administration->Firestarter
2) See if the Firewall Status is either "Active" or "Disabled" on the
Status tab.
3) If it is "Active", then this is probably the issue.

What do you see?

If active, you can add a rule to allow incoming traffic on that port:
1) First, you must select the Policy tab.
2) Then, select either of the tables for "Allow connections from host"
or "Allow service|Port|For". Don't forget this step -- the "Add Rule"
button doesn't become enabled until you do this!
3) Click Add Rule
a) If you selected the "Allow connections from host" table, then enter
your laptop's IP address. Now, ALL traffic will be allowed for ALL
applications from your laptop->desktop.
b) If you selected the "Allow service|Port|For", then just select the
SSH service in the drop down.
4) Click the "Add" button to close the window and add the rule
5) Be sure to click "Apply Policy" on the tool bar.

Let us know if it now works?

Regards,
Dustin
