Can you tell us which WLAN card is in your notebook? Often manufacturers 
use various types of WLAN cards although the notebook always has the same 
name. If you don't know, please open a terminal and type the command

lspci

then copy & paste the output in your reply. Furthermore it might be 
helpful if you could tell us which version of Ubuntu you are using.
