How to Repair Synaptic and Add/Remove Programs ?

Synaptic is stuck with this:
kio-umountwrapper will be removed

Because it is stuck it cannot install any program.

Error message:
E: kio-umountwrapper: subprocess post-removal script returned error exit
status 2


Also Add/Remove will not work. It allows you to find a program, but once
you click on it, the spinner spins forever, and the only way out is to
cancel.

How can this package be removed from Synaptic? or is there a different
way to fix this?
