gnome-power-manager: no power management, no suspend, no hibernate

Justification: renders package unusable


suspend fails (s1).  hibernate fails (goes to "request password").
suspend worked up until an update last week.  As the update fixed the
problem with powering off (used to require logging out before power
off permitted) - this package seems to be the culprit.
Have changed between powernowd and powersaved - with no change.
linux-2.6.27-2 (ubuntu) does not solve either.

acpitool -s - DOES work, but xorg crashes.

gnome-power-manager seems to use more CPU and memory than before and
definetely does NOT engage power saving - battery times have dropped.

laptop is intel 865 based hardware (Dell Inspiron 1525) - which may be
a factor.

Thank you all for fixing the "shutdown" problem though.  That at least
is an improvement, even if the rest of the functionality is now broken.
