I'm sure a great many people 'like' it that way, which is why it's been
that way for such a long time. (consider what happens when Gnome tries
something people don't like, say, default to a spacial instead of
browser interface.)
It's my personal opinion that the reasons for not providing any
mechanism to change the behaviour to be very weak, especially
considering how harmful it can be. But that wasn't the point of my
little rant in this thread. What I'm trying to say is, gksudo nautilus
is probably not a good idea at all under the current configuration. As
a rule of thumb, most people don't hit yes when they didn't intend to
click/drag anything around in the first place.

Errr yep, that was the point of my message... soliciting ideas for more
suitable (IMNSHO, ie, less psychopathically dangerous) root GUI file
managers.
Is that even a word? It should be :)
