My laptop which has XUbuntu is not with me ATM. But I
remember getting prompted when I log in with a choice
of several sessions. So I assume it's not using gnome-
session, which never allowed me to choose between
several saved sessions.
With regard to gnome-session I did a file search of my
Ubuntu install:
find ~/.gnome* -name "*essio*" --> [0 results]
There's no file which looks like it might be the magic
session file. So I think the problem goes much deeper
than applications that need to be migrated to the
supposedly new session format (or protocol?).
The only fix I found is to add the application to the list of
"Startup Programs", but this hack doesn't remember window
positions or (in Gnome Term) open tabs.
