Ubuntu friends, I need some help.

I did on my 8.04 box <Alt> F2 sudo update-manager -d and the update towards
8.10 started.

During the update , I ssh'ed to my server machine and did also the update
command.

The server installation went flawless, but after 48 minutes, just before the
'cleanup ' phaze, the other box froze and I had to reboot.

I know you should not interrupt the update process, but I could not do
otherwise.

What is now the best way to rescue things? any suggestions?
