Been following this thread with interest wanting to understand just why Karl's extented partition didn't include all space to the end of the disk as mine does. Karl, glad you were able to fix the trouble, but can you explain just what the messages were and just what you selected from the gparted menu gui. I have added with gparted several 50 GB partitions
(extended) on my 500 GB HDD and am running Hardy 64 bit from one of them now. But, I'm always uncertain just how to do things re partitions and have had problems getting a new install to go on the partition I want it to; should have selected manual install, I guess. So, any more detail you can add will be helpful. Thanks.
