Is dual-booting Mac OS X10.5 Leopard and Ubuntu 8.04 possible on a G5 iMac?

Dear ubuntu users,

My father has a 1st-generation 1.8 Ghz G5 iMac running the latest version of Mac OS 10.5 Leopard.

Can I install Ubuntu 8.04 Desktop Edition in a seperate partition on the same hard drive and make his iMac dual-bootable?

Please let me know - thank you in advance for your help and advice.
