Hardware recommendations

I would recommend the Intel Core2Duo E8400 LGA775 processor with the
GA-EP35-DS3L motherboard. Pick up whatever PCI16 Nvidia card you can
afford, they come in all kinda of price points. Same for RAM, get the
fastest up to 1066 you can get.
Surprisingly enough, I've only talked about 300 bucks with a decent case and
most of the way to the hard drive. If you can't afford the above, drop to
an el cheapo LGA775 Celeron, as most of the cost up there is in that
processor, which will set you back about 180 bucks last time I picked them
up on Newegg.
