Configure gdm with fixed resolution and frequ.?

Hi,

is it possible to tell gdm a fixed resolution and frequency?
After booting my Computer with switched off monitor, gdm starts with
640x480 (and not, like normal if the monitor is switched on during boot,
with 1600x1200). To get the right resolution I have to press
Ctrl+Alt+BkSpc (with switched on monitor), then gdm restarts.

And the second problem. At gnome i have 1600x1200 at 85Hz. But gdm starts
(if monitor is switched on during boot) with 1600x1200 at 60Hz. That's
eye-cancer-causing (yes, I have a CRT ;) )

Has anyone a clue or can give me a tip what's the problems could be or
how i can fix this?

Thanks a lot
Hartmut
