Do you have a Gmail filter set up that's moving or deleting the
administrative messages?

Are you using Gmail to check messages from non-Gmail accounts -- it's
possible you are receiving the messages via another email address so
you will need to enter THAT address in the list server to unsubscribe.
(Open a message from the list and look carefully at the complete
headers. In Gmail you click on the drop-down menu next to Reply and
choose "Show Original". Look to see where the message was sent before
it got to Gmail.)
