Reconfiguring X.org video drivers is not possible: /etc/X11/xorg.conf is invalid.

Thanks Raseel, this seems to have worked just fine and now my ATI 
restricted drivers are working.  But now I cannot activate the Compiz.  
No errors, it just says they cannot be enabled.
