Sorry, I nearly always do put "8.10 beta" in my questions but forgot
in this case.  I suspect though that the problem is unchanged from
8.04, it's more to do with the new way that Xorg automatically selects
the resolution than anyhting that has changed between 8.04 and 8.10.
