Further further information. This problem is only confined to this
install on this machine. When running the LiveCD on this machine, sound
works normally. Here is the Sysinfo report on the soundcard:
Intel Corporation 82801FB/FBM/FR/FW/FRW (ICH6 Family) High Definition
Audio Controller (rev 03)
I can zip up reports from sysinfo made under 8.04 and 8.10 if anyone
might find them useful.
Any ideas?
