Hmm - I thought in ubuntu you must "sudo invoke-rc.d <servicename>
restart"?  I always create a link from /usr/sbin/invoke-rc.d to
/usr/sbin/service whenever I install an ubuntu server - because of the
redhat/centos pathways etched into my brain :)
