Please do not top post.
Two possibilities: Either your harddisk is recognized or not.
Try with the Ubuntu Bootdisk and see whether your existing Windows
Partition(s) is/are recognized.
If yes, you will most probably need to resize your harddisk in order to
free up space for Ubuntu.
If not, your SATA Interface is most likely not recognized by Ubuntu.
This can happen, especially on a brand new motherboard like yours.
I would google for your motherboard and linux install problems.
If your Install-DVD is Version 8.04, you could POSSIBLY have more
success with 8.4.1 which is the 8.04 bugfix release.
If htis does not help, you can experiment with your BIOS Settings. RAID
mode most probably should be disabled and you should try various SATA
settings, of which "IDE" is the most compatible, but at the same time
also the slowest.
ATTTENTION:
Do not forget that depending on your existing configuration, you might
be able to install Linux, but at the same time, if you change the
currently exisitng harddisk mode, you might loose the ability to run
windows.
So in any case, do one change at a time, note what you did, in order to
revert it as needed. Finally, try windows AND the Ubuntu install after
each step.
Kind regards
Eberhard
