accessing windows computer from ubuntu computer

I do not know anything about a Verizon FIOS modem. But if you get
the Internet to both computers at the same time, it will be easy to move
files between them.
First you need to learn the IP number of your Ubuntu and windows
computer. In Ubuntu you learn by typing in a terminal
$ sudo ifconfig and it will show you the IP number.
The above is simple. But networking is a deep subject. Another
simple method is to use a USB stick. If you want to put something from
Windows onto Ubuntu just load it on the stick and plug it into the
Ubuntu computer.
