Which Eclipse IDE version is best for Ubuntu LTS 8.04 ?

I didn't see a noticeable performance difference between the Ubuntu version
and either Europa or Ganymede downloaded directly from Eclipse.  But the
Eclipse versions actually work with the plugins I use.
