Moving from Fedora to Ubuntu - am I doing the right thing?

That's why I originally steered away from Ubuntu but having installed
Ubuntu Server on a NAS box I found it had more to offer than I thought.

Again, that's why I originally chose it after Slackware, but it's not
"bleeding edge" in the sense of having recent versions of software
available, not in my experience anyway.
