Welcome to Ubuntu,

well, if your server has contact to the internet, "sudo apt-get install 
ubuntu-desktop" might help you to get a GUI. If you prefer KDE, it would 
be "kubuntu-desktop", if your machine is low spec, "xubuntu-desktop" 
might be a good choice.
