I checked the /etc/hosts file on my laptop and it was as you described so I
made the change as you suggested. It's still that way and I'm able to
access it with VNC now, so I'm making progress. So many times when
troubleshooting things like this it's a combination of little things that
end up being the whole answer. You weren't "wrong" and I appreciate your
help and welcome any other thoughts you may have.
