There are others who don't like it for file transfer, at least:

The useful stuff is:

CKERMIT:
--------
Source: http://www.columbia.edu/kermit/ck80.html#source

To Build: $ make linux
          # mv wermit /usr/local/bin/kermit
          # chmod ugo +x !$
(No, "wermit" is not a typo.)

Doco: view ckermit/ckututor.txt
(Line 318 is where the COMMAND LANGUAGE starts)

It worked well for me, talking to a BDI2000, when porting U-Boot
and the linux kernel to an embedded target. Apart from that, I don't
have much experience with it.
