I was just about to mention wicd - I installed it on my new netbook a
couple of days ago (Hardy, not Intrepid) and am enjoying it...  so
here's a +1 for wicd.  The only drawback I've seen so far is no vpn
and no 3G connectivity, but I don't need 3G.
