Hello Paul,

Thanks for your quick response. I admit that I was trying to wait to
read what other suggestions there might have been.

I'm taking a BIG liberty in sending you the /boot/grub/menu.lst as an
attachment with the hope that you have the time to look through it,

because,

I understand (I think) trying to '...see "default NUMBER" ' per your
instructions.
The first one I see is on line 6...## default num

But as far as "count down to the grub entry for your ubuntu", I'm
close-to-clueless as to what is supposed to happen next...

What I see on my boot screen (which you probably can tell from the
/menu.lst) is:
Ubuntu 8.04.1 kernel 2.6.24-21-rt
(I'll skip the (recovery mode lines)
                                              -19-rt
(rec.m)
8.04.1 memtest86+
Other operating systems:
Microsoft Windows XP Professional
Ubuntu 8.04 kernel 2.6.24-19-generic (on/dev/sdb1)
                                                               (rec. mode)
                                           -18-generic(on/etc...)
                                                               (rec.
etc...)
                                 2.6.22-14-generic (on ditto)

If I do nothing the top line will boot, and that is Ubuntu Studio.
Scrolling down to the XP line, hitting enter gives me the choices of XP
Pro and Ubuntu (which is now Intrepid...usta b Hardy)

Not part of our discussion is cleaning-out the -19 through -14 kernels.
That's something for another time (perhaps).

Thnx,
Mischa
