You certainly need to brush up and learn bash commands. And you will have to do that eventually to enjoy linux. But since you are very new it seems and I've gone through this myself, here's what you can do:
You can use synaptic pkg manager, search for compiz, click the compiz entry and select the "remove completely" pop-up. Or do:
sudo aptitude purge compiz
You should google for "bash commands" or something similiar and start learning the cli commands or you wont enjoy linux. Good luck and enjoy.
