According to this:
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/HardwareSupportComponentsWirelessNetworkCardsBelkin
F5D7050 v4002 uk (USB ID 050d:905b) works out of the box (including WPA)
with Ubuntu 8.04:

<quote>
Worked with GNOME Network Manager via WPA (TKIP) with Ubuntu 8.04
connected to a Speedport W 701V out of the box as well as connected to a
Fonera without encryption. Did not work at all on a gateway laptop
running ubuntu 8.04 with GNOME Network Manager
</quote>

I suspect the gateway laptop issue in the above may have been USB
related given that the device worked on the other devices.

According to:
http://cateee.net/lkddb/web-lkddb/RT73USB.html
your device uses the rt2501/rt73 driver. You may want to onsider
upgrading to 8.04 - see:
http://www.ubuntu.com/getubuntu/upgrading-8.04
as 8.04 includes rt2500 source in universe in order to enable in
restricted hardware. You can also download directly from:
http://www.ralinktech.com/ralink/Home/Support/Linux.html
[RT2501USB(RT73:RT2571W/RT2573/RT2671] but you will need kernel 2.6.24 &
up, see:
http://www.ralinktech.com.tw/data/drivers/ReleaseNote-RT73STA-v1101.txt
