Is this something that is safe to do? When I deselected it from the  
GUI Services manager I was presented with a warning that continuing  
could result in data loss. Then after I rebooted when I attempted to  
load the GDM using "startx", immediately after the desktop loaded  
there was an error about the program "user switcher" crashing.
