Errr, no,, 'Rip' a DVD is terminology that means to extract a video (and
usually also includes encoding it to something more practical than the
old Mpeg2)

What exactly are you trying to do, copy a data DVD?  You should be able
to simply right click on the dvd icon on your desktop and choose "copy
disc" from the menu.
