No I did not.  Will look at it.

It is a bit difficult because that would require a ssh connection to
root - something I am trying to avoid as far as I can.

Yes, I did that.  It requires me to stop gnome, do a backup and get
back to gnome again.  Unfortunately xfce does not offer all the
functionality that I can get in gnome  -  yet.
