How do I setup a particular video player as the default player

Hi Mark,
I think the gnome way of doing this is kind of backwards in that,
except for a few items in Preferred Applications, you have to know the
secret. For example, to change the default program that handles a JPG
file, you need to first find a JPG file, then right-click on it and
choose "properties".
There should be an "Open With" tab that you can set and, via the fine
print, fine that all files of that type will be opened this way now.
Perhaps you can do that with a DVD file.
It would be nice if this kind of functionality was available through
Preferences.
