Firefox crashes

Ok, I run 8.10 on a desktop (kubuntu varmit) and it works just fine. 
Installed ubuntu 8.10 on my laptop and it firefox barfs on almost all 
sites with flash. This has to be worst version to ever come out.

I've never had these issues before, and I've been running linux since 
like the pre 1.0 kernel. Any hints? 32-bit install btw.

Oh, funny thing is, the live cd worked just fine.
