util-linux-ng: cannot recreate/reformat thumb drive

Problem reformatting/recreating a thumb drive. I examined a functional (Kingston) drive in order to 
reformat my disfunctional drive. cfdisk reported on the functional drive: "FATAL ERROR: Bad primary 
partition 0: Partition begins after end-of-disk"
