What exactly do you mean?  There are several answers depending on what
you are looking for...

There is meta-information, such as the list of installed packages,
which files belong the which package, scripts that should be run when
installing/removing a package, ... in /var/lib/dpkg.

When installing packages from the net via apt, a copy of the *.deb files
is stored in /var/cache/apt/archives, but those are no longer required
and may be deleted after install (apt-get clean does this).
