trouble with graphics card intel and ubuntu 8.04

xrandr show as best option 1280X800, no mention to 1280X1024. Looking
at Xorg.0.log, I can see that the driver "intel" is being used, that
it recognizes my chipset as 945G (i don't know if there is any
difference between it and 945GC) and that it doesn't print any error
message (although xorg.conf mention 1280X1024 as a resolution needed).
Running "915resolution -l", I can see many possible resolutions,
including "Mode 58 : 1280x1024, 32 bits/pixel", but I can't use it. I
don't know what to do. Today, I installed ubuntu 8.04 in another
computer, and the best resolution it gave was 800X600 256 colors!
(again ubuntu feisty gave a better resolution). Nobody else have this
problem?? Thanks,
Leonardo
