udev issues

hello list,

i recently upgraded from 7.10 to 8.04. everything is good but udev seems
to be hosed. i can format a drive, get it mounted, have it working fine.
but the minute i reboot the system can not see the drive again. i have a
feeling this is a udev issue. i have uninstalled and reinstalled udev but
to no avail. i have googled all day to try to find someone who has had the
same issue. i have found nothing.

so i was wondering if anyone knows of a udev issue when upgrading from
7.10 to 8.04 and how it can be resolved.
