how to install beryl manuall from packages for ubuntu7.10

Still, if I remember well, from version 7.10, there is no Beryl, but 
rather Compiz...
You can try that, but if it doesn't work, try

$ sudo apt-get install compiz-config

Then you will have all sort of settings in System->Preferences->Advanced...
