GCC issue: C compiler cannot create executables

Thank you all guys, I have not yet tried:

sudo apt-get install build-essential

I am doing that right now. Hope my compilation works and the Postgres
Plus database too.

I think I don have apache apxs installed too. What do I need to add
apxs with PHP compilation
