I'm not sure what your use case is, but I suspect that rdiff-backup
might be the better tool for you to use. I has include and exclude
directives on the command line, and with a little shell scripting you
can read them from config files. I use a very rudimentary script along
with such files, and it works surprisingly well for my needs.
