Avast Installation - was Can't Find a Supervisor

OK, now I have another problem.  I was given a "License Key" for my Avast program, however, I've not seen a front end or 
place for my Avast "License Key" to be entered.

I reckon I need to fire up Avast to get it started and then the "License Key" area will show up.

Is Avast suppose to only start on startup or can I start it manually?  If manually, how does that work?

Oh yes, I have ordered my Big Dummies book on Ubuntu so my little issues like this may become less frequent.
