ubuntu 8.04 libc6 problem

Hello Mike and all,

The libc6 that is installed is Version: 2.7-10ubuntu3 and the matching
(or any) version for libc6-dev was not.

I could revert the libc version to the older one that does have a
corresponding version, but there are so many dependencies on libc that I
think this would be dangerous.
