Hello all.

I just did an update from 7.10 to 8.04. All went well with one very
important exception. I have a data drive that houses all of my important
data. In 7.10 it was /dev/hdb mounted on /data with the command mount
/dev/hdb1 /data. Now, obviously it is seen as /dev/sdb. But if I try to
mount the drive with the command sudo mount /dev/sdb1 /data I am getting
this error:

mount: special device /dev/sdb1 does not exist

but if I look on gparted I can clearly see the device. Even in dmesg I see:

[ 32.115602] sd 0:0:1:0: [sdb] 156301488 512-byte hardware sectors
(80026 MB)
[ 32.115615] sd 0:0:1:0: [sdb] Write Protect is off
[ 32.115618] sd 0:0:1:0: [sdb] Mode Sense: 00 3a 00 00
[ 32.115635] sd 0:0:1:0: [sdb] Write cache: enabled, read cache:
enabled, doesn't support DPO or FUA
[ 32.115682] sd 0:0:1:0: [sdb] 156301488 512-byte hardware sectors
(80026 MB)
[ 32.115691] sd 0:0:1:0: [sdb] Write Protect is off
[ 32.115693] sd 0:0:1:0: [sdb] Mode Sense: 00 3a 00 00
[ 32.115707] sd 0:0:1:0: [sdb] Write cache: enabled, read cache:
enabled, doesn't support DPO or FUA

So can someone please help me get this device mounted? I've tried
everything I can think of. It is pretty critical that I get it mounted.
My latest backup of the drive is about a week old and that's not recent
enough (I know - my mistake on that point.)

Thank you for any help you can give me.
