Err, why is your pdf file named with an AI extension? If your saving
your work as pdf, it should be saved with .pdf
the reason it used to work in Gutsy was the mime detection correctly
identified the file as a pdf from the header, but it seems as though in
Hardy, .ai is explicitly identified as Illustrator file.
If you really want Hardy to behave like Gutsy, you can install assogiate
(Gnome mime-type editor), use it to locate the entry for illustrator
files and remove it. Once the ai file association is gone, Gnome should
fall back to mime magic detection and identify the file as a PDF. But
keep in mind, the real problem is, your file name extensions are wrong.
