Firefox 3.0 woes

I personally would copy .mozilla to a safe location, then try Fx2 on
the existing .mozilla folder. If it works, great. If not, then you can
erase it, restart firefox to build an empty profile, and then copy the
relevant files one by one.

First, run this command to copy .mozilla to a safe location:

$ cp .mozilla .mozilla_backup

Then, simply start Firefox 2. Update your extensions and restart
Firefox. If it works, and your bookmarks and other settings are
intact, then smile. If not, then write back and let us know
specifically which settings are working, and which are not.
